FAQs

How do I send a public information request?

First research the agency, find the contact information for the public records officer if there is one. Most will accept the requests electronically via a webform or via email. Write your request and submit it. Provide contact methods and maintain communication with the agency. Be prepared to wait 10-21 days or more, depending on the state and the request. Some agencies will require a fee to disclose the requested records.

I need help writing the request, but can send it myself. Can you help?

Yes! We can draft templates custom to your situation and the agency, then send it to you so you can send it off yourself.

Can you send and manage the public information request for me?

In some states yes, and in some states we cannot. It will depend on the state and its residency restrictions and other policies.
